WASHINGTON (AP) — The National Transportation Safety Board is expected to vote on the probable cause of last year’s Metrorail crash in Washington and recommendations to avoid similar tragedies.
The board began hearing from investigators today about the deadly crash.
Eight passengers and a train operator were killed and dozens injured in June 2009 when a Metrorail train rear-ended a second train stopped before the Fort Totten station.
Metro’s Board of Directors is putting $30 million aside over three years to begin work on recommendations that may come out of the NTSB meeting.
