Neighbors | Shaiyla Hakeem .A mysterious yellow falcon appeared in Poland library's parking lot July 16. Yellow Creek Theatre featured the classic film, "The Maltese Falcon" that night, but no one knows who the chalk artist is.

Warm summer nights are great for late walks, social gatherings and, in Poland, watching movies outside.

Yellow Creek Theatre treated residents to a screening of the 1941 classic, “The Maltese Falcon” July 16 under the bridge neat the Poland Library. This was the theatre’s second film of the season.

The night was a family affair as kids, parents and pets crowded in front of the Route 224 bridge. A vintage Looney Tunes episode was shown prior to the feature film, along with a short presentation of Yellow Creek Theatre’s history. Poland resident Anthony Lattanzio said he began attending Yellow Creek Theatre last year with his family. He likes the classic movies and is looking forward to the upcoming shows.

“The first movie we went to last year was the “Nutty Professor,” he said. “We’re going to try to make every movie this year.

The theatre’s next feature film will be “The Glenn Miller Story,” starring James Stewart and June Allyson on Friday. For a full movie schedule, visit www.yellowcreektheatre.com.
