Sharon police seek suspect in woman’s death

SHARON — Police are looking for a Malleable Street man, accused of shooting to death one woman and beating two others with a handgun.

Police issued an arrest warrant for Calvin Young, 25, charging him with homicide and aggravated assault.

About 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, police were called to 670 Baldwin Ave. for a report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found Carolyn McVehil, 21, of the Baldwin address in the living room, shot in the head. She was pronounced dead.

A 49-year-old city woman and a Uniontown, Pa., woman, 19, were bludgeoned with a handgun by the perpetrator. Both suffered head injuries.

Because of the proximity of the crime scene to an elementary school, the Sharon school district dismissed students to their parents.
