NEWTON FALLS — The man charged with wounding a 13-year-old girl by shooting her in the shoulder with a gun Saturday afternoon is in Trumbull County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond after making an initial appearance Monday in Newton Falls Municipal Court.

Police charged Jack M. Kaczmark, 43, of Newton Drive, with two felony counts of obstructing justice and single counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm, kidnapping, endangering children, felonious assault and attempted felonious assault and a misdemeanor of discharging a firearm inside the city limits.

If convicted on all the charges, Kaczmark faces up to 53 years in prison.

Officials said if Kaczmark is able to make bond, he will be outfitted with an electronic ankle bracelet to monitor his movements.

Police said girls age 12 and 13 went to Kaczmark’s house about 2 p.m. Saturday. Kaczmark was showing them a .22-caliber handgun, grabbed the 13-year-old, pointed the gun at her and fired. The girl is in stable condition at an Akron hospital.
