Other findings in the annual State of Poverty report by the Ohio Association of Community Action Agencies:

In 2009, an Ohio renter would need to earn $13.14 an hour to afford a market-rate two-bedroom apartment. In 2008, 600,000 households received public assistance to pay utilities, up about 30,000 from 2006.

In 2008, 1.2 million Ohioans did not have health insurance, and 2.3 million did not have dental or vision coverage.

The state’s food banks distributed nearly 114 million pounds of food in fiscal 2009, up 16 million from the previous year.
