Ursuline 68, Massillon 65 OT

YOUNGSTOWN — After Massillon led most of the second half, DeVonte Jenkins made a layup with 0:03 remaining in regulation to force overtime. To start the four-minute extra-session, Jenkins hit a 3-point goal and the Irish (4-7) never trailed again. Ursuline made 9 of 13 free throws in overtime to feed its lead. Jenkins, a junior guard/forward, had 25 points. Also for the winners, senior Dakota Trosky added 18 points and Khiree Gregory had 10 points. Evan Malinowski’s 21 points — powered by 11 free throws — paced Massillon (5-6).

Liberty 54, Lakeview 52

CORTLAND — Jalen Mann led the Leopards (2-11, 1-0 All-American Conference White Tier) to a win in the league opener. Charles Perdue contributed 12 points and Preston Williams 10. For the Bulldogs (2-10, 0-1), Austin Haines led three players in double figures with 17 points plus 12 of 29 rebounds. Zach McDivitt scored 10 points and made four steals while Elliot Metheny scored points.

Hubbard 71, Warren JFK 52

HUBBARD — Mike Lopuchovsky led Hubbard with 18 points. Tyler Loveless netted 15 and Chase Myers 10. For Warren JFK, Brenden Cox scored 12 points while Carl Broadbent and Tyler Protiva had 10 apiece.

Campbell 60, LaBrae 55

CAMPBELL — Jerah’me Williams scored 22 points to lead the Red Devils (7-3, 3-0 AAC Blue Tier). Lester Hughes scord 14 points and Nate Hodge nine. For the Vikings (8-3, 2-1), Mike Morris’ 17 points included five 3-pointes. Matt Szorady and Jacob Jaros each scored 12.

Newton Falls 55, Champion 43

NEWTON FALLS — Sophomore Cody Dillon had 23 points and Brian Sole added 15 against Champion which scored just five fourth-quarter points due to turnovers. Newton Falls is 11-2, 1-1 AAC Blue. Ian Barnes had 13 points for the Golden Flashes (4-8).

United 67, Crestview 51

HANOVERTON — Zack Taylor collected 20 points including four 3-pointers and eight rebounds for United which led just 42-37 after three quarters. Brett Albright added 12 points for United. Carter Hill scored 13 points for the Rebels.

Springfield 68, Mineral Ridge 47

NEW MIDDLETOWN — Jimmy Zubick’s 20 points included 12 free throws as the Tigers made 32 of 46 attempts from the free throw line. Tanner Avnet scored 17 points and Ben Avnet 11. For the Rams, Evan Hinks’ 12 points included three 3-pointers.

Lowellville 70, Jackson-Milton 56

NORTH JACKSON — Mauro Amendola scored 20 points and Anthony Alfano 12 for the Rockets (9-3, 6-2 ITCL Tier 2). For the Bluejays, Bobby Schnellbach netted 19 and Jake Carlile 15.

Youngstown Christian 72, Jefferson Area 42

YOUNGSTOWN — Casey Carroll scored 19 points and Caleb Yanno added 13 for the Eagles (11-1). The Eagles sprung out to a 30-8 lead after one quarter and were in front 51-16 by the break. Youngstown Christian players made 10 3-point goals in the game. Connor Cleveland scored nine points for Jefferson Area.

Alliance 58, Minerva 51

ALLIANCE — Following low-scoring middle periods, Minerva’s 23-point fourth quarter wasn’t enough to overcome the Aviators (6-4, 5-4). Vernon Martin’s 15 points paced Alliance, while Minerva (8-4, 5-4) got 19 points from Brian Ware.

GIRLS

Boardman 90, Cleveland East Shaw 47

BOARDMAN — Darryce Moore had 23 points, Monica Touvelle 22 and Doriyon Glass 20 for the Spartans (10-2) in a makeup game from Dec. 21. Kayleigh Lipke and Moore grabbed 11 and 10 rebounds, respectively, for Boardman, which beat an outclassed Shaw on the boards, 46-25. Glass also had four of Boardman’s 11 blocked shots. Jon-Val McCalla and Lenay Simms got 10 points apiece for Shaw (2-7).
