Austintown Historical Society to host Past Presidents Dinner

AUSTINTOWN — Austintown Historical Society will host its 31st annual Past Presidents Dinner Feb. 2 at Dino’s Italian Restaurant, 10941 Mahoning Ave., North Jackson.

The event will begin with a social gathering for members and guests at 6:30 p.m. followed by the buffet dinner at 7. Reservations are required by calling (330) 799-0303.

The guest speaker will be Sarah Vodrey, director of the Museum of Ceramics in East Liverpool. A sixth-generation descendant of pioneer potters, she will present a slide show, “Hidden Beauties,” featuring more than 100 rare and unusual pieces dating from 1840 to 1976 that are on display at the museum.

During its December meeting the society elected officers and board members. Elected to one-year terms were; Joyce Pogany, president; Marge Goldner, vice president; Veronica Terzak, recording secretary; Janet Smart, corresponding secretary; and Elaine Dovala, treasurer.

Named to serve two-year terms as directors were: Bill Davis, Patricia Davis, Idabell DeHoff, Susan Garchar, Barb Jones and Rae Jeanne Mollica. Board members presently serving through 2010 are Patty Deak, Marjorie DeHoff, Carol Kuzma, Ron Kuzma, Bess Scott and Griff Thomas.
