Austintown clubs hear from FBI

On Jan. 11, at the Austintown Community Church, the Austintown Lions and Lioness Clubs held a special meeting with King Lion Jack Kochansky presiding.

Serving as guest speaker was FBI agent Mike Cizmar who is attached to the Gang Unit of the Mahoning Valley Violent Crime Task Force.

Cizmar gave the clubs a full history of the Bureau starting from its inception, including organized crime, terrorist threats, high tech crime, public corruption, drugs and gangs that infiltrate our local areas.

Cizmar also proclaimed that the bureau is constantly upgrading their technology, that violent crime levels are down, but juvenile crime is up.

He also cited that there are close to 800 gang members locally.

There are some 13,249 special agents working within the bureau with a budget of $6.8 billion.
