Saturday's Academic Challenge in Salem


SALEM — The Columbiana County Educational Service Center is coordinating the County Varsity Academic Challenge competition starting at 9 a.m. Saturday at Salem High School.

Ten Columbiana County high schools will compete in the tournament. One team will emerge as county champion.

The winner will represent the county at the Regional Academic Competition on April 24 at Jefferson Community College in Steubenville. The state tournament is May 1 at Columbus State Community College.

The event marks the 33rd consecutive year for the Columbiana County Varsity Academic Challenge. It is the longest-running countywide academic competition in the state. The event is open to the public.

First-, second- and third-place winners will be announced at 2:45 p.m. in the cafeteria.
