Sharon Regional Health System to open Hubbard center Feb. 1

HUBBARD — Feb. 1 is the target date for opening of Sharon Regional Health System’s new Hubbard Diagnostic and Specialty Center, a $1.7 million satellite medical center.

A public open house at the Hubbard facility, located in the former Nemenz/IGA food store at 880 West Liberty St., is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 7.

The new center is expected to provide 10 to 12 new jobs.

The 11,500-square-foot diagnostic and specialty center will make available physicians to Hubbard in the areas of cardiology, general surgery, sports medicine and orthopedic surgery.

There also will be a full complement of diagnostic tests including X-ray, ultrasound, laboratory services, pre-surgical testing and electrocardiograms, plus physical/hand therapy and sports rehab along with a specialized heart center for advanced cardiac testing, Sharon Regional officials said.

The center will accept all physician requests for diagnostic tests and therapies regardless of hospital affiliation. It will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Phone number for all services is (330) 534-5400.

The center also will have a section dedicated to heart health and will be a satellite of Sharon Regional’s Heart and Vascular Institute. The area will offer cardiac stress tests, cardiac echocardiography and general office cardiology through Sharon Cardiology Specialists, Sharon Regional’s cardiology group.

Cardiologists who will see patients at the center include Drs. James Ryan, Jose Millan, Ronnie Mignella, J. Ronald Mikolich, Nicola Nicoloff, Michael Burley and Brandon Mikolich.

The center also will serve as a satellite for Sharon Regional Sports Medicine Services and offer appointments with sports-medicine specialists Drs. Keith Lustig and Ernest Swanson plus a sports- medicine therapy and rehabilitation center.

Other physicians available at the center are Dr. Brian Shannon, spine surgeon and joint-replacement specialist, and general surgeons Drs. Gene Marcelli, Craig McKinney and Ravi Alapati, who specialize in single-incision laparoscopic surgery.

Additionally, staff from the Hubbard Diagnostic and Specialty Center and Sharon Regional will offer community-health education programs and screenings for area residents, officials said.

With more than 1,750 employees, Sharon Regional Health System is one of the largest employers in the region.

In addition to the main campus in Sharon, Pa., the health system has satellite facilities in Hermitage, Mercer and Greenville in Pennsylvania and Brookfield and Hubbard in Ohio.
