Columbiana County academic challenge to be Saturday


SALEM — The Columbiana County Educational Service Center is coordinating the County Varsity Academic Challenge competition starting at 9 a.m. at Saturday at Salem High School.

Ten Columbiana County high schools will compete in the tournament. One team emerge as county champion. The winner will represent Columbiana County at the Regional Academic Competition on Saturday, April 24, at Jefferson Community College in Steubenville. The State Tournament is May 1 at Columbus State Community College.

The event marks the thirty-third consecutive year for the Columbiana County Varsity Academic Challenge. It is the longest running county-wide academic competition in the state of Ohio. The event is open to the public.

First, second and third place winners will be awarded at 2:45 p.m. in the cafeteria.
