Students at Mahoning County Career and Technical Center got a chance to demonstrate their skills during Community Day workshops Feb. 19.

Members of the community, including relatives and senior citizens, toured the school’s facilities and attended workshops and ate a discounted lunch at the school’s Oak Room Restaurant.

Workshops included health and first aid classes in the Exercise Science, Health Tech and Medical Occupation labs. Visitors could also make photo buttons in the multimedia classroom and corsages in the Horticulture lab.

In the auto body shop, students gave a question-and-answer session on car wax and visitors could get their cars checked for maintenance in the Automotive Tech lab.

Cosmetology students also gave free manicures, facials and hand waxing to visitors.

Eighth-grade students from Canfield Village Middle School also toured the facility on Community Day. The students had the opportunity to participate in interactive workshops in different classrooms and labs.

The eighth-grade field trip was part of CVMS’ career preparation program.
