Riverdance performances will take place at DeYor Performing Arts Center

Monday, February 22, 2010

YOUNGSTOWN — A farewell appearance by Riverdance will go on despite damages to the DeYor Performing Arts Center at Edward W. Powers Auditorium, where the show is to take place.

Patricia Syak, performing arts center director, said today the facility has received the blessing from city building inspectors and the fire department and will go forward with Riverdance shows planned for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Those interested in attending one of the Riverdance performances can contact the box office Tuesday.

Officials do not yet have an estimate to repair damages to the building.

Syak said masonry work to repair the damaged bricks will take place sometime in the spring. The fire escape will be checked to determine how much repair is needed or if it will need to be replaced. Melting snow is attributed as the cause for the damage.
