Pa. woman, 87, dies after being found in snow

CRAFTON, Pa. (AP) — An autopsy is planned to determine the cause of death for an elderly woman who died after being found laying in the snow.

Investigators say the unidentified 87-year-old woman was discovered Tuesday night in her front yard in Crafton, just outside of Pittsburgh. Emergency workers transported the woman to a hospital where she died around midnight.

Authorities say the woman may have been salting her steps.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office says the woman might have died of hypothermia but an autopsy will determine how she died.
