Police seek man who robbed Pa. church pierogi sale

LYNDORA, Pa. (AP) — State police are hoping the public can help them find a man who robbed a church pierogi sale in western Pennsylvania.

Police in Butler County say five women were making the large dumplings at St. Peter and Paul Ukranian Orthodox Church in Lyndora when the robber burst in on Friday.

The church has sold the pierogies to raise money for about 40 years.

Police say it’s not clear how much money the robber took. The pierogies sell for about $6 a dozen and the women who help with the sale routinely make about 300 pounds of pierogies for each sale.

Pierogi sales are common during Lent, which begins Wednesday.
