Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mahoning Valley and Western Pennsylvania has awarded $53,500 in grants to 12 area non-profit organizations that provide services to children. Checks will be presented to the organizations at 10 a.m. Monday at the Ronald McDonald Respite Center at Akron Children’s Hospital of Mahoning Valley.
The recipients are:
Someplace Safe, Inc., Warren, $5,000, Children’s Healthy Intervention program.
Neil Kennedy Recovery Clinic, Youngstown, $5,000, Youngstown Stars program.
Sojourner House operated by Burdman Group, Youngstown, $5,000, ongoing programs.
Youngstown State University, Youngstown, $5,000, reading and math after-school program for middle school students.
Down Syndrome Association of the Valley, Boardman, $5,000, Literacy Arts Math program.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mahoning Valley, Girard, $5,000, mentoring program.
Family Service Agency’s Daybreak Youth Crisis Center, Youngstown, $5,000, family treatment intervention.
Potential Development Program, Youngstown, $5,000, Sensory Integration program.
Beatitude House, Youngstown, $2,000, Child Safety program.
Youngstown Hearing & Speech Center, Boardman, $5,000, Hearing and Learning Lab.
Mollie Kessler School, Youngstown, $1,500, swimming and karate instruction courses.
Help Hotline Crisis Center, Inc., Youngstown, $5,000, underwrite costs associated with funding its hot line.
