Police continue to investigate a 4:30 p.m. Friday shooting in a backyard near Youngstown Road and Woodbine Avenue Southeast that left two men injured.

Desemen D. Douglas, 29, of Woodbine Avenue, and Earl G. Hudson Jr., 29, of Duke Avenue Southeast, suffered gunshot wounds to their lower body, witnesses said.

Douglas is at St. Elizabeth Health Center. None of the area hospitals reported Hudson as a patient. Warren police stopped a sport-utility vehicle near the shooting scene after a witness described the vehicle used by the assailants, but the people in the SUV were not arrested, said police spokesman Sgt. Jeff Cole.

Douglas has been charged with criminal offenses 12 times since 1999 and was sentenced to two years in jail in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court in 2005 on cocaine-possession charges.

Hudson was sentenced in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court to 11 months in prison in 2006 for cocaine possession. He was sentenced to six years in prison in 1998 for aggravated robbery.
