‘Fair’ is in the eye of the beholder

We have been instructed to complete and return our census forms because, “The results will be used to help each community get its fair share of government funds for highways, schools, health facilities, and many other programs you and your neighbors need. Without a complete, accurate census, your community may not receive its fair share.”

What makes Washington, D.C., think they allocate tax dollars more fairly than my township, county, or even state government officials? What is fair about taking money from my community and giving it to another community?

The distribution of money in our country is many things, but fair isn’t one of them.
