As fundraisers go, the Poland Rotary is officially off and running.

During its 25-year history, the club has sponsored spaghetti dinners, rose sales, golf outings, raffles and benefit dinners to raise funds. But the club will break new ground May 1 with its first-ever 5K Rotary Run.

The 3.1-mile course will begin at the track at Baird Mitchell Field, take a short trip through Poland Woods and continue on Poland Manor, Indian Trail and several other residential streets back to the track. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers.

Proceeds from the run will support Poland Rotary’s many projects which include the decorating of Poland’s bridges at Christmas, sponsorship of a youth baseball team, scholarships to Poland High School students and assistance to Celebrate Poland and many other projects that enhance and serve the community.
