Police: Boy, 11, hit in crossfire during shooting
PITTSBURGH (AP) — An 11-year-old Pittsburgh boy is hospitalized after being caught in the crossfire of a shooting that police say involved his father.
Authorities say the unidentified boy is in stable condition after he was shot in the thigh Wednesday afternoon in the city’s Larimer neighborhood. Police believe a $5 debt prompted the exchange of gunfire between a man in a car and the boy’s father outside a home.
A short time later a man arrived at a nearby hospital claiming he was caught in the crossfire. Police suspect that man, 46-year-old Andre Howard of Wilkinsburg, fired the shot that struck the boy. Howard’s condition has not been released.
No charges have been filed. Police say the investigation continues.
