People of all ages attended last year’s Turtle Derby sponsored by the Youngstown Lions Club. This year, the 49th annual event is set for June 28 at the Lowellville Cruising on the River Car Show.

The 49th annual Youngstown Lions Club Turtle Derby has been scheduled for 6:30 p.m. June 28 at the Lowellville “Cruising on the River Car Show.”
Those wishing to participate can enter a live turtle for $50, which will entitle them to choose a name for a trainer, a jockey and an owner.
Advertising space in the program is available for $50 for 1/5 of a page. Anyone purchasing a full-page ad will receive one free turtle entry.
Donations also are being accepted in the following categories: $500, benefactor; $200 to $499, sponsor; $100 to $199, donor; or under $100, friend.
Checks should be made out to the Youngstown Lions Club Sight-Saving Fund and sent to Nancy Cuffle, 1006 Boardman Canfield Road, Suite 1, Boardman, OH 44512. For information or to be billed, e-mail Cuffle at nancycuffle@remax.net
Raffle tickets also will be sold for $1 each for two drawings of $150 prizes.
The Turtle Derby is the Youngstown Lions Club’s only fundraiser, and money raised goes to many different organizations throughout the Mahoning Valley.
