Grace Styer, who is active in Columbiana’s and Mahoning County’s tourism efforts, told city council that she is looking into having a Christmas drive-through tour of holiday displays in Firestone Park this year.
The displays would run from mid-November until the Sunday after Christmas. The goal would be to draw people to the city to see the displays and shop.
The council Tuesday also gave the second of two needed readings to pass an application for funds to renovate South Main Street from the town’s central turn-around to the railroad tracks at the city’s southern limit.
Keith Chamberlin, the city manager, said the city is asking for $1.5 million from the Ohio Department of Transportation.
If approved, designs would be made that would include all the issues such as lighting, utilities and drains.
