Mother of Wis. bride delivers woman’s baby

MILWAUKEE

A Wisconsin woman who went into labor on the way to a hospital got some help from the mother of a bride at a nearby wedding party.

Ben Sherwood of New Berlin was driving his wife, Kimberly, to the hospital when she told him they wouldn’t make it.

They saw a police officer by the Milwaukee Art Museum and flagged him down.

Ben Sherwood told WTMJ the officer had the same frightened look he had. So Ben turned to a nearby wedding party and starting yelling for a doctor.

A woman in a peach dress and high heels ran over. It was Annette Soborowicz, an emergency-room nurse.

A few pushes later and Soborowicz was holding little Lincoln Sherwood.

Soborowicz says it was an amazing day — the Sherwoods had a son and she gained a wonderful son-in-law.

Washington racks up late fees at NY library

NEW YORK

If George Washington were alive today, he might face a hefty overdue library fine.

New York City’s oldest library says one of its ledgers shows that the president has racked up 220 years’ worth of late fees on two books he borrowed but never returned.

One of the books was the “Law of Nations,” which deals with international relations. The other was a volume of debates from Britain’s House of Commons.

Both books were due Nov. 2, 1789.

New York Society Library head librarian Mark Bartlett says the institution isn’t seeking payment of the fines but would love to get the books back.

The ledger also lists books being taken out by other founding fathers, including Alexander Hamilton, Aaron Burr and John Jay.

The entry on Washington simply lists the borrower as “president.”

Repo man drives away in prom-goers’ limo

JENKS, Okla.

High school students attending a prom in Oklahoma say they watched as a repo man drove away a limousine they had rented. At least one initially thought it was being stolen.

Landon Wiland said he and friends had rented the car from Galaxy Limos for the prom in Jenks, a suburb of Tulsa.

Wiland said they had gotten out of the car when it was driven away — while their driver was standing next to them. His reaction: “Our limo is getting carjacked.”

Galaxy Limo owner Jim Nicolotti said there was a miscommunication between his lender and the repossession company.

He said he and his bank had worked out their issues, but the bank did not tell the repo company to cancel the job.

Nicolotti plans to offer a partial refund or a free future rental to the customers affected.
