New Music Festival at YSU

All events for the New Music Festival are free and open to the public, with the exception of the Wednesday evening concert ($5; $4 for seniors and students, available at the door) and the Thursday evening event at the Jewish Community Center ($10; $15 after Monday. Call (330) 746-3251 ext. 106).

MONDAY

11 a.m.: Lecture, “Mixing of Large Orchestra,” by Johnterryl Plumeri, recording studio, 2nd floor, Bliss Hall.

TUESDAY

11 a.m.: Lecture, “The Art of Recording Symphony Orchestra,” Johnterryl Plumeri, recording studio, 2nd floor, Bliss Hall.

4 p.m.: Lecture, “Scoring for Films,” by Johnterryl Plumeri, Bliss Hall, Room 3136.

WEDNESDAY

12:15 P.M.: Music at Noon concert, Butler Institute of American Art. Works by Zacharias, Gershwin, Brandt, Rollin.

8 p.m.: Gala Opening Concert at Ford Family Recital Hall with the Festival Chamber Orchestra, Composers Ensemble, and Aurista Ensemble.

THURSDAY

1 p.m.: Children’s Concert by Aurista Ensemble at Immaculate Heart of Mary School in Austintown.

3 p.m.: Composition Seminar with Johnterryl Plumeri, Bliss Hall, Room 3150.

4 p.m.: Lecture, “Orchestrating for Symphony Orchestra,” by Johnterryl Plumeri, Bliss Hall, Room 3136.

6:30 P.M.: “Hors d’oeuvres and Music at the J Caf ” at the Jewish Community Center.

FRIDAY

11 a.m.: Dana School of Music Convocation Concert, Bliss Recital Hall.

1 p.m.: Lecture on Stravinsky Analysis by Dr. Jena Root, Bliss Hall, Room 3137.

SUNDAY

1:30 P.M.: “A Potpourri of International Music” with the Aurista Ensemble, Sts. Peter and Paul on Covington Street.
