Ruling leaves House hopeful unopposed in Pa. primary

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — State Rep. Bryan Lentz is now unopposed for the Democratic nomination in a suburban Philadelphia congressional district.

A Commonwealth Court judge upheld a challenge of Teresa Touey’s nominating petition on Thursday, leaving her eight signatures short of the 1,000 that she needed to qualify for the May 18 primary ballot.

Another Democratic candidate withdrew from the race earlier this month.

At stake is the seat currently held by U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak, who is challenging U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter in the primary.

Lentz is expected to face Republican former U.S. Attorney Patrick Meehan in the general election.
