A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Sept. 22

Attempted burglary: Two window screens were damaged when someone tried to enter a Greystone Drive residence.

Sept. 23

Theft: An 18-foot trailer was removed from a backyard in the 6300 block of New Castle Road.

Criminal damaging: A sharp object was used to damage a vehicle at a Center Road store.

BOARDMAN

Sept. 24

Theft: Three people stole 10 DVDs and children’s clothing from Big Lots, 7110 South Ave., then fled in a car.

Menacing: A Claybourne Avenue woman and her daughter reported having their lives threatened over the phone.

Recovered property: A stolen trailer was returned to a home in the 300 block of Maple Drive.

Criminal damaging: Someone slashed the tires on a vehicle in the 400 block of Mathews Road.

Theft: Fifty milligrams of liquid Demerol was stolen from a cabinet at a South Avenue care center.

Trespassing: Someone rummaged through a vehicle in the 7300 block of West Boulevard.

Theft: A vehicle check on Lockwood Boulevard led to the arrest of a township woman, 46, wanted on a warrant from Youngstown.

Attempted theft: A woman in her late 20s tried to steal a $72.50 pair of jeans from Buckle in the Southern Park Mall.

Domestic violence: A 32-year-old Boardman man was charged after his former girlfriend alleged that while at a bank, the man jumped from his car and threatened her, then punched, kicked and used a key to damage her vehicle

Theft: A 23-year-old Edinburg, Pa., man was charged in the theft of $66 worth of items from Wal-Mart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Harassment: A man made 12 harassing calls to a Sugartree Drive woman’s home and cell phones.

Theft: A Boardman man and a Liberty man, both 18, were charged in the theft of $9.23 worth of merchandise from Wal-Mart.

Theft: A .40-caliber pistol was missing from a bedroom in the 4800 block of Erie Street.

Theft: Someone took a global-positioning system unit and a pair of prescription sunglasses from a car in the 6700 block of Tippecanoe Road.

Sept. 25

Arrest: A 23-year-old Youngstown man was pulled over for running a red light on South Avenue, then taken into custody on a probation- violation charge.

Attempted breaking and entering: A lock was pried off a door to a business in the 5200 block of Market Street, though no entry was made.

Theft: A city woman, 26, was charged with deliberately failing to scan $239 worth of merchandise at Wal-Mart.

Drugs: Police investigated four suspicious people in the 5400 block of Market Street and charged a 16-year-old township boy with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Theft: A cashier at a Market Street restaurant was shortchanged $65 by two men.

Theft: Business records and checks were stolen from a business in the 6900 block of Market Street.

Theft: A 25-year-old Struthers woman wanted on a probation-violation charge also was accused in the theft of $95 worth of clothing from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall.

Criminal damaging: Two windows were damaged at an East Midlothian Boulevard business.

Sept. 26

Theft: Twenty to 30 juveniles left Bob Evans Restaurant, 7347 California Ave., without paying their food bills.

Theft: A mattress and two box springs were missing from a box truck in the 6100 block of Southern Boulevard.

Harassment: An Island Drive woman said she’s being continually harassed via text messages.

Auto theft: A 1998 Chevrolet Malibu was stolen at a business in the 400 block of Boardman-Poland Road.

Criminal mischief: Several eggs were broken on a driveway in the 6900 block of Glendale Avenue.

Theft: A customer failed to return a 60-inch TV to Eagle Rental Inc., 6132 Market St.

Thefts: In unrelated situations, customers stopped making payments on merchandise they had rented from Eagle Rental Inc. Items were a TV and a living-room set.

Sept. 27

Theft: A wallet was stolen from a vehicle in the 7400 block of Indian Trail.

Theft/criminal damaging: A $60 plastic mailbox stolen in the 7700 block of Huntington Drive was returned after having been covered with spray paint.

Arrest: A 38-year-old Warren woman was taken into custody at the Southern Park Mall. She was wanted on a contempt-of-court charge.

Theft: An East Liverpool woman, 20, was charged with stealing six articles of clothing from Target, 417 Boardman-Poland Road.

Criminal mischief: Eggs and toilet paper were tossed at a home in the 400 block of Rockland Drive.

Theft: A Canton woman, 31, faced charges of theft and criminal trespassing after $294 worth of clothing was stolen from Wal-Mart.

Sept. 28

Burglary: To a Willow Drive apartment via a side window.

Theft: A 17-year-old Austintown boy was charged with taking a $27 car accessory from Wal-Mart.

Theft: Someone stole $28 worth of items from Dollar General, 859 E. Midlothian Blvd.

Criminal damaging: A large dent was found on a vehicle’s driver’s side at the Southern Park Mall.

Theft: A FedEx package was removed from the outside of an apartment in the 4000 block of South Schenley Avenue.

Theft/misuse of a credit card: A Powell, Ohio, woman reported her stolen credit card had been used at several township locations and online, for a loss of about $13,000.

Forgery: A Boardman man told police a $1,280 check was cashed with his forged signature.

Criminal mischief: Someone was using a trash bin belonging to a Market Street funeral home without authorization.

Breaking and entering: A door was pried open at Paintball Sphere Inc., 7271 West Blvd.

Arrest: Authorities responded to a vehicle break-in near Sequoya Drive and arrested a 24-year-old Youngstown man hiding nearby, charging him with receiving stolen property, resisting arrest and obstructing official business. Two stolen items were found, a report said.
