Seven teams ranked in poll

McDonald is No. 10 in Div. VI of the Associated Press high school football poll.

Unbeaten Cardinal Mooney remained in first place in this week’s Associated Press high school football poll.

The Cardinals (5-0), who defeated Mentor Lake Catholic 42-21 last weekend, held the No. 1 spot in the Division III poll over Steubenville.

Mooney travels to St. Francis of suburban Buffalo on Friday.

Poland held down the No. 3 spot in Div. III. The Bulldogs (5-0), who defeated Niles 35-0 last weekend, play host to Chaney on Friday night.

In Div. II, Howland (5-0) moved up one spot to seventh after defeating Chaney 42-12. This weekend the Tigers travel to Beaver Local.

Girard (5-0) moved up two spots to No. 5 in the Div. IV poll. The Indians, who defeated Champion 31-6 last weekend, play host to Niles on Friday.

In Div. V, East Palestine (5-0) remained at No. 3 and Crestview (5-0) moved up two spots to No. 8. Those teams play on Friday at Crestview.

McDonald (5-0) broke into the top 10 in Div. VI after defeating Wellsville 50-12.

The Blue Devils, who were ranked No. 12 last week, travel to Jackson-Milton on Friday for an ITCL Tier Two game.

Four other area teams received votes to rate a mention this week. Ursuline (2-2) is No. 14 and Springfield (4-1) is No. 16 in Div. V, while Canfield (4-1) is No. 15 in Div. II and Western Reserve (5-0) is No. 16 in Div. VI.
