STAFF REPORT

SALEM —The Timberlanes motor lodge and restaurant, which closed in January, has been purchased.

Darrell Borghi of the Robinson Hospitality Group in Pittsburgh said Monday that Unique Ventures Group of Meadville, Pa., bought the facility. Borghi said he is negotiating with Unique Ventures to run it. A spokesman for Unique Ventures could not be reached.

For decades, the Timberlanes at 544 E. Pershing St., was the place to go. It drew hundreds of customers for political rallies, meetings of all sorts and private parties. The family that had owned the former bowling-alley-turned-hotel sold the business several years ago.

The Timberlanes went into a receivership in April 2008.
