Ohio Farm Bureau announces 42nd year of constant growth

SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Farm Bureau Federation has announced its 42nd consecutive year of membership growth, reaching a record 235,064 members. This is an increase of 1,003 members since 2008.

Founded in 1919, OFBF is the state’s largest farm organization, providing government representation and public-relations services, as well as numerous personal and small-business benefits to rural and urban members.

The organization’s vision is to forge a partnership between Ohio farmers and consumers.

John C. Fisher, OFBF executive vice president, said appreciation goes to the strong efforts made by volunteers in every county in Ohio. “It takes teamwork to keep Farm Bureau growing,” Fisher said, adding that the campaign was “a lot of work but important work. Our sustained growth keeps us relevant to policymakers and the public.”

Fisher also thanked Farm Bureau partners Nationwide Insurance and Medical Mutual of Ohio for their contributions to a successful recruiting year.

“Nationwide Insurance has a closely shared heritage with Ohio Farm Bureau, and its agents and management demonstrated an unprecedented effort to assure the success of the 2009 campaign. Medical Mutual, a newer partner, also put forth a tremendous commitment to helping us succeed,” he added.

Bureau membership is available to anyone interested in helping meet its vision of forging a partnership between Ohio farmers and consumers. OFBF provides the opportunity for consumers to experience and understand the people and places that make up Ohio’s agricultural community.
