Mr. and Mrs. Davis mark September 5 anniversary date

YOUNGSTOWN — Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Davis of Youngstown have been married 65 years, and they celebrated their Sept. 5 anniversary recently.

Mr. Davis and the former Betty J. DeLauter were married in the old Calvary Baptist Church on Oak Hill Avenue.

Both graduated from South High School.

Mrs. Davis, a homemaker, joined the work force during World War II.

Her husband, who was employed by Youngstown Sheet & Tube Co. for 43 years, retired in 1985. Mr. Davis, a WWII veteran, served in the European Theater under Gen. George Patton’s Third Army.

The Davises, who first met in September of 1939, raised five children and have 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
