Cortland Historical Society plans to sponsor quilt show, competition

CORTLAND — Cortland Bazetta Historical Society will sponsor a quilt show and contest from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Opera House. Admission is $5. Lunch will be available both days.

Items for a door prize drawing at 4 p.m. Saturday will be donated by the vendors; Annal Louisa’s Needle Arts from Louisville; Shaffer’s Countryside Quilting of Sharpsville, Pa.; Nana’s Needlework of Aurora; Just Quilt It of Warren; Quilter’s Fancy and Designers Two quilt shops from Cortland; and Megen’s Quilt Parlor of Albion, Pa.

Jacqueline Cessna, a quilt expert in collecting, buying and selling quilts, will be available to appraise quilts from 10 a.m to noon on Saturday at the Viet’s Museum. The fee is $15 for the first quilt, and $10 for each subsequent quilt. At 1 p.m. she will speak on “Quilt Presentation.” Tickets for her program will be $5 in advance and $7 at the door.
