Mr., Mrs. Shields celebrated their 60th anniversary

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Mr. and Mrs. Anthony J. Shields of Fort Lauderdale, formerly of Newton Falls and Austintown, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Sept. 10.

The former Irma Jean Gillespie and Mr. Shields were united in marriage on that date in 1949.

Their family includes David and Bobbi Shields of Vienna; Susan and Larry Harmon of Fort Lauderdale; Gregory and Melody Shields of Quakertown, Pa.; Lisa and Rich Saultz of Batavia, Ill; Alan (AJ) and Cindy Shields of Poland; and 11 grandchildren.

Mrs. Shields was a homemaker for 25 years after being married. She then went to work doing microfilm for the engineering department at Wean Industries. She retired after 22 years of service.

Mr. Shields worked 10 years at RMI in Niles as a product and process engineer, and retired as a purchasing agent for all steel products at the ITT Corp. in Warren.
