Deltas will honor those who serve community in Tribute to Black Excellence

YOUNGSTOWN — Members of the Youngstown Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., will present their 8th Annual Tribute to Black Excellence on Sept. 25 at The Mahoning Country Club, 710 Liberty St. in Girard.

From 6-7 p.m. a social hour will include an open bar. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m.

The donation for this inspirational evening is $40 per person ($20 is tax deductible). Semiformal attire is required. Dancing and a Chinese (cash only) auction will follow dinner. Music will be by D.J. Mark.

Recipients of awards for making a difference in our community in various areas of public service include: The Rev. Dr. Morris E. Lee, community service; Kenneth Andrews, education awareness; Bob Dean, political awareness; Richard A. Roller; economic development, and Dr. Victor Wan-Tatah, international awareness.

Proceeds from this event will be used for scholarships to deserving students, support for the Betty Shabazz Academy and GEMS, voter education, health initiatives, economic development and other public services. The group is dedicated to having its national initiatives serve the community.
