Good Shepherd program having Jail and Bail fundraiser today

YOUNGSTOWN — Good Shepherd Community Doctors Office, a nonprofit organization that services the medically underinsured population in Youngstown and surrounding communities, is having a Jail and Bail fundraiser from noon to 3 p.m. today.

Area pastors and other church and community leaders will be “jailed” at a Good Shepherd location in Trinity United Methodist Church, 30 W. Front St., until they can find someone to pay $3 to set them free, said Jessie Cochran-Dodson, projects manager for the organization.

She said 30 percent of the Good Shepherd staff members are volunteers, including physicians and intern nurses from the Youngstown State University nursing program.

The money raised is used to pay for prescriptions for clients and to defray costs for supplies and equipment, Cochran-Dodson said.

UServing the Community Brunch, Nov. 14, noon to 3 p.m, Trinity United Methodist Church: A free meal is provided for community youths age 12 to 21. It is open to youths from the community and church and social organizations.

UThe First Annual Thanks for Giving Banquet, Nov. 14, 7 p.m., Trinity United Methodist Church: Invitations have been sent out, and members of the community are welcome. However, anyone planning to attend must register by calling (330) 782-2800.
