Boardman police calls


A summary of recent criminal activity in Boardman:

Oct. 24

Arrests: A traffic stop near Woodrow Avenue resulted in the arrests of three girls, two age 16, one age 17, on curfew violations as well as charges of underage consumption of alcohol and drug abuse (marijuana).

Criminal damaging: A Mathews Road woman told police her boyfriend deliberately pulled wires from her vehicle’s engine during an argument.

Theft: A $300 gold watch was stolen from a car in the 1800 block of Alverne Drive.

Theft: About $67 worth of clothing was stolen from Burlington Coat Factory, 529 Boardman-Canfield Road, then recovered.

Theft: Two employees working at a Boardman-Poland Road restaurant reported items missing from their vehicles including a bow, a suede coat, a global-positioning-system unit and two cameras.

Theft/damage: A pickup truck in the 900 block of Boardman-Poland Road had damage to its roof. Stolen was a four-strobe light bar worth $400.

Theft: A 15-year-old city boy faced charges of theft and criminal trespassing after an MP3 charger plug and an electronic accessory cable were stolen from Wal-Mart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Theft: A purse, a wallet, a digital camera and a cell phone were removed from a car at a Boardman-Poland Road eatery.

Oct. 25

Criminal damaging: A vehicle’s window was broken at a Tiffany Boulevard motel.

Domestic violence: A 37-year-old township man was charged, accused of choking his mother, holding his hand over her face, pushing her to the ground, threatening her with a knife and forcing water into her mouth.

Theft: An 800-watt amplifier, two speaker boxes and other items were stolen from a vehicle in the 400 block of East Western Reserve Road.

Burglary: The front door to a residence in the 4700 block of Lockwood Boulevard was forced open before someone took a 51-inch flat-screen TV and three firearms.

Assault: Two people at a home in the 1100 block of Red Tail Hawk Drive told police they had been struck and choked.

Theft: An 18-year-old Boardman man was charged with taking a $45 MP3 player from Wal-Mart.

Theft: A purse was taken from a shopping cart at a Doral Drive store.

Theft/damage: A $300 GPS device was taken from a vehicle, at a Tiffany Boulevard business, after someone broke a passenger-side window.

Criminal damaging: Someone broke a car’s passenger-side window in the 600 block of Angiline Drive.

Theft/weapon: Three boys, two age 16 and one age 17, all of New Castle, Pa., were charged in the theft of $339 worth of cologne from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall. The older teen also faced charges of improper handling of a firearm, drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia when, police said, a revolver with eight rounds, suspected marijuana and a suspected marijuana pipe were found.

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a garage in the 100 block of Terrace Drive, then stole a lawn mower.

Oct. 26

Auto theft: A 1986 Monte Carlo was stolen at a Boardman-Poland Road store.

Vehicle theft: Someone stole a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe in the 500 block of Bev Road.

Theft: Someone removed a compact-disc player, a 12-inch subwoofer, an amplifier and stereo equipment from a vehicle at Southern Park Mall.

Criminal mischief: Paint balls were shot at two cars in the 400 block of Garver Drive.

Theft: A $150 GPS unit was taken from a van at a Market Street car dealership.

Criminal damaging: A BB gun was used to shoot an apartment window in the 4200 block of Market Street.

Domestic violence: A Liberty Township man, 38, was booked at the Mahoning County jail after a Lynn Mar Drive woman told authorities her former boyfriend claimed he had a gun and made other threats, causing her to fear for her safety.

Oct. 27

Auto theft: A 1990 Buick LeSabre was stolen in the 60 block of Willow Drive.

Drugs: Authorities pulled over a 24-year-old Sharon, Pa., woman in the 5200 block of Market Street and said they found two small bags with suspected cocaine residue and a suspected crack pipe. She faced three drug-related charges and one count of obstructing official business; the woman also was wanted on a warrant charging her with possession of dangerous drugs.

Arrest: Officers responded to a report of a man being assaulted in the 4000 block of South Avenue, where they took a woman, 33, into custody on warrants charging her with a probation violation and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was not charged in the assault, however.

Theft/damage: A vehicle in the 7000 block of Tiffany Boulevard had a broken window. Stolen was a $250 in-dash CD/MP3 player.

Criminal damaging: A key was used to damage a car’s finish at a Doral Drive business.

Theft: Two women in their 20s stole various items from Family Dollar, 4026 South Ave.

Theft: Someone stole from a vehicle in the 200 block of Shields Road a gym bag, hand-held weights, a water bottle and a pad.

Theft: Two males took $20 from a car in the 6400 block of Southern Boulevard.

Assault: A 14-year-old student at Boardman Center Middle School, 7410 Market St., was charged with hitting another boy in the head several times without provocation, causing a red mark to the accuser’s cheek and lumps to the back of his head. A school camera showed the assault, a report said.

Oct. 28

Recovered property: Police found in the 7000 block of Southern Boulevard a 1986 Pontiac Firebird that had been used in a burglary in Youngstown.
