Firefighters dousing hot spots at western Pa. fire

Tuesday, October 27, 2009

BALDWIN, Pa. (AP) — Firefighters have continued to douse hot spots at a home south of Pittsburgh that caught fire and burned out of control because of a natural gas leak.

The Allegheny County fire marshal is investigating the fire in Baldwin Borough, just south of the city. Officials say two people inside the single-family home got out safely after the fire was reported about 3 a.m. Tuesday.

Equitable Gas Co. crews were called to shut down the leaking gas line. Until then, firefighters were forced to contain the flames from spreading to other structures, but otherwise had to let the fire burn.
