H1N1 meeting

NORTH LIMA — An informal meeting regarding the H1N1 virus and vaccine will be at 7 p.m. Monday at South Range High School auditorium.

Representatives from the Mahoning County District Board of Health as well as Dr. Carrie Campanelli, pediatric physician and school district parent and resident, will have a presentation to help inform and educate those concerned about the virus.

Warren BOE meeting

WARREN — Warren Board of Education will meet at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the administration building, 261 Monroe Street, N.W., to discuss the district’s 2008-09 state report card. The board’s regular meeting will begin at 7 p.m.

Voinovich staffers in Warren on Friday

WARREN — Staff members of U.S. Sen. George Voinovich will be available to meet with the public from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Trumbull County commissioners meeting room on the fifth floor of the county administration building, 160 High Street, N.W.

“These listening sessions are vital because they help me stay attuned to the needs of Ohioans while I am working in Washington,” Voinovich said. The senator’s staff will travel to every county in the state this year.

Canfield leaf collection

CANFIELD — The township will have a trial leaf collection Monday.

The program, which is through a grant from the Recycling Division of Mahoning County Green Team, will include the areas from U.S. Route 224 to Austintown Township and between Tippecanoe Road and South Raccoon Road.

Monday will be the only day leaves will be collected for 2009.

The leaves must be in paper bags, or they won’t be collected. Free bags will be made available at Canfield Township Hall on South Broad Street.

Sign up for free toys

YOUNGSTOWN — A free toy giveaway sign-up for those in need to the first 35 families will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Nevels Temple Church, 939 Elm St., across from Wick Park.

You must bring the following: valid picture identification, not expired; proof of whole- household income; Social Security cards for you and children; proof of guardianship; welfare printout from Job and Family Services. You cannot be signed up at any other help agency.

Poland candidate debate

POLAND — Poland Schools Foundation for Educational Excellence will have a Poland school board candidates’ debate at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Poland Seminary High School auditorium. The public is invited.

The candidates are incumbents Frank DiVito and Laura Stacy and challengers Dr. Larry Dinopoulos and Richard “Beau” Weaver.

Two seats are available to be filled by the Nov. 3 election.

Meet the candidates for Crestview board

COLUMBIANA — Crestview Parent Teacher Organization will host a “Meet the Crestview School Board” candidates’ night at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Crestview High School Auditorium/Music Room.

School board candidates will address education issues and respond to questions in a moderated public forum.

Candidates who have agreed to participate are John Garwood, Brett Roberts and Dan Simmons.

There also will be time after the program to meet the candidates.

Judge Carol Robb of Columbiana County Municipal Court is the moderator.
