Chaney 30, Slippery Rock 10

YOUNGSTOWN — At Stambaugh Stadium, Bobby Hayes scored two touchdowns and Terrance Mackie picked off two passes to lead the Chaney High football team to its first victory. Anthony Cornwell took a fake punt 65 yards for a touchdown to open the scoring for the Cowboys (1-8), who snapped an 11-game losing streak. Hayes’ touchdowns covered 61 and 46 yards, Eddie Crook had a 1-yard TD run and Stephen Shackleford closed out the scoring for Chaney with a 31-yard run. Breandre Bunch also intercepted a pass for the Cowboys, who also recovered two Slippery Rock (2-6) fumbles.

Youngstown Christian 21, Ledgemont 13

CANFIELD — John Pecchia threw three touchdown passes, one each to Caleb Yanno (20 yards), Nick Gonda (14) and Victor Shaw (5)at Canfield High stadium. Pecchia fired one TD pass in each of the first three periods while Spencer Reed kicked three extra points, to give Youngstown Christian a 21-7 lead after three periods. Then the Eagles (5-4) managed to hold off Ledgemont (5-4) down the stretch. Pecchia finished with 7-for-15 in the air for 113 yards, but with three interceptions. Brian Richey caught two passes for 61 yards. Yanno led Youngstown Chistian’s ground attack with 150 yards in 30 carries. Dan LaRosa keyed Ledgemont with 120 yards rushing in 15 carries, including a 63-yard run capped by Bob Fowler’s placement in the opening period. Shane Ritts also sparked Ledgemont with 7-for-22 passing for 104 yards, including a 21-yard TD toss to Brad Seiler in the final quarter. Brad Marsic had two receptions for 65 yards.
