Western Reserve, Jackson-Milton advance to Division IV district semifinals


LISBON — Claire Ferrando had 11 points, 24 assists and 73 sets to lead second-seeded Western Reserve, which defeated Crestview 25-9, 25-20, 25-18 in a Division IV sectional volleyball final Thursday.

Victoria Brown added eight kills and three blocks, Heather Monoski had six aces and eight kills and Hannah Schradell had 11 points for Reserve (21-2), which will play Jackson-Milton in a district semifinal at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lisbon High School.

For Crestview (6-18), Brittany Gisler had six points and two aces, Chelsea Caudill had three points, five kills and two blocks, Shanelle Davner had five kills and three blocks and Morgan Newbauer had 13 points.

Jackson-Milton 25-25-25, Columbiana 17-23-22

Maddie Griffiths had 15 points, seven aces and 10 kills for the fourth-seeded Bluejays (18-6), while Karynn Maskarinec had 15 assists and 42 sets and Amanda Miller 10 kills and three blocks.

For Columbiana (12-11), Marie Voitus had seven points and 24 assists, Katie Witmer had five points and five blocks, Hayley Goist had five points and 12 digs and Kristi Couchenour had five blocks and 10 digs.

Division I Howland 14-15-25-25-15, Nordonia 25-25-21-22-11

SOLON — Nia Grant had 22 Kills, two aces, nine blocks and eight digs for Howland, which will play Brecksville or Garfield Heights in a district semifinal at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Solon High School.

Kaylee Redon had 12 Kills, two aces and seven blocks, Camille Cvengros had nine kills, two aces, 10 blocks and five digs and Alexandra Hornack had four kills, three aces and 10 blocks.

Division II Hubbard 25-25-25, Ravenna 8-3-11

BOARDMAN — Marci Angelo had 25 assists, Courtney Angelo had 15 points and three aces, Lexi Starheim had eight kills and Dawn Lingenfelter had 10 digs to lead Hubbard, which will meet Field (20-4) in a district semifinal at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Elena Andino-Esparra had eight kills, Laura Boniface had seven kills, Sierra Spotleson had 20 assists and Dina Daltorio 15 digs for the Cardinals.
