Four injured Sunday in Green Township accident


GREENFORD — Four people were injured in a two-car collision at state Routes 45 and 165 in Green Township.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said a car driven by Brian Watkins, 19, of New Castle, was westbound on Route 165 around 1:30 p.m. Sunday when he failed to yield at a stop sign at the intersection. His car was hit by a northbound car on Route 45 driven by Kelly L. Moracco, 33, of Salem, according to a patrol report.

Watkins was taken to Akron City Hospital, where he was in serious condition today. Police said a passenger in his car, Nick Lewis, of Hermitage, Pa., suffered serious injuries and was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown, but the hospital said today that he wasn’t a patient.

Moracco and a passenger, Kassidy M. Leake, 2, also of Salem, were taken to Salem Community Hospital with minor injuries, but the hospital said today that neither was a patient.
