Spartans defeat Falcons

AUSTINTOWN — Ryan Tomko, Ryan Giambattista and Zaire Morrison scored goals Saturday as the Boardman High boys soccer team defeated Fitch, 3-1.

Devrim Olgun had an assist while goalkeeper Garrett Pancake made eight saves for the Spartans (9-5-2, 3-3-1 Federal League).

For the Falcons, Adam Justice scored.

Poland 1, Howland 1

HOWLAND — Taylor Malaniak scored the goal and Cooper Kostelic made two saves for the Bulldogs. Cameron Francis netted the Tigers’ goal and Robert Daniels made five saves.

JVs: 2-2.

Girls Fitch 1, Boardman 0

AUSTINTOWN — Kelsey Martin scored the goal and Ali Tolich had two saves to lead Fitch (10-4-2, 6-1 FL). Cheyenne Khatib had four saves for Boardman (10-6-1, 4-3).

Poland 8, Warren Harding

WARREN — Abbey Chandler scored two goals while Jordan Palumbo, Vivien Clayton, Erin Gabriel, Samantha Susich, Lindsey Cooper and Katie Marucci had one each. Palumbo made three assists while Tatum Marucci and Chelsea Conzett had two apiece.

Abbie Frank made one save to post the shutout for the Bulldogs (12-2-2).

For Harding, Ciera Sparks and Kaitlyn Welke combined for 10 saves.

Badger 1, Girard 0

GIRARD — Shawna McNeely scored the goal 15 minutes into the game on an assist from Olivia Vancoy. Goalkeeper Kelsey Flowers made eight saves for Braves (10-3-3) while Melissa Weitzman made nine for Girard.

Howland 0, Westlake 0

HOWLAND — Howland (11-3-2) goalkeeper Erika Nites made six saves while Stephanie Poeppelman and Katie Carroll combined for six stops for Westlake (11-1-3).

JVs: Westlake, 3-1.

Newton Falls 3, Garfield 2

GARRETTSVILLE — Shannon Montgomery, Brooke Rodgers and Angela Giuliano scored goals for Newton Falls (8-3-5). Giuliano had two assists and Destiny Smith had an assist.

Newton Falls goalkeeper Rebecca Humberger made seven saves.

Kennedy Catholic 3, Pymatuning Valley 0

GREENVILLE, Pa. — Chelsea Bernat scored two goals and Anna Bonomo the other for Kennedy Catholic (2-10-2). Bernat and Alyssa Hrishenko had assists while goalkeeper Angela Balint made nine saves.

For Pymatuning Valley, Lauren Seman made six saves.
