Support needed at Jackson-Milton

Fanfare:

Does anyone working within — or has an interest in — the Jackson-Milton school district sports programs own cameras or cell phones?

My reason for concern is because the J-M football games were listed in the Vindicator Blitz Picks at the start of the season, but were soon omitted for some reason. Then I spotted a small note in a Saturday sport section stating that the J-M staff or someone had failed to send in the football results.

Another question comes to mind regarding the “team spirit” pictures featured at the back of the sports page. I have never seen a J-M submission.

I realize the football team is struggling. However, the senior girls volleyball team is filled with talented, beautiful young athletes who [finished 11-1] in their league and tied with Western Reserve for the league championship.

A local J-M athletic booster by the name of John Lengyel heads up an organization called “Bluejay Pride” (330) 538-3435.

John explained in a recent e-mail that he is looking for volunteers, but so far only one person has signed on.

I am convinced that the folks living in the J-M school district are better than this.

Our rural school history shows that school athletics will prevail only if the adult population gets involved. Superior athletes will rise up from good sports programs to make us all proud, once they see and hear familiar faces and voices from the community crowds.
