Monument dedicated

YOUNGSTOWN — Liberty Presbyterian Church, 1451 Church Hill-Hubbard Road, has dedicated a memorial.

During a storm in the summer of 2008, a maple tree outside the entrance to the church was damaged so badly that it had to be cut down, leaving a large unattractive stump. Ken Clifton, one of the parish’s late members, carved wood as a hobby. His widow, Wilda Clifton, decided it would be a fitting tribute to Ken and their late son Russ, to have the stump carved into a memorial. She and two other church members — Kathy Foltz and Twila Hoover — commissioned Dick Mason, who carves with chain saws, for the project.

The stump is a memorial to Ken Clifton, Russ Clifton, Ray Foltz and Carl Hoover.
