Deer smashes through Movie Gallery window

NEWTON FALLS — An eight-point buck charged through the front window of the Movie Gallery, 175 Broad St., walked around inside, then walked back out through the hole in the window that he made.

In the process, he left behind his antlers — apparently the result of hitting them on the window or a shelf in the store, one employee said.

The antlers were in pieces, said Christopher Girgy. The incident occurred at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The deer didn’t hurt any of the customers inside the store, but he broke a front window and charged into one shelving unit before trying to charge another window but not succeeding in breaking it, Girgy said.

Deer sometimes charge at a window because they see their reflection in it, Girgy said he’s been told.
