Shiloh Baptist Church has interim pastor

CAMPBELL — Shiloh Baptist Church, 238 Bright Ave., has appointed the Rev. Ricky Tigner as interim pastor to temporarily fill its pulpit, which has been vacant since mid-April.

The Rev. Mr. Tigner will provide continuity and maintain church functions and stability while Shiloh’s pulpit committee continues evaluating candidates for a permanent pastor.

Mr. Tigner came to Ohio from Bethel Grove Baptist Church, Covington, Ga., where he was under the leadership of his father, the Rev. Willie George Tigner Sr.

At Bethel Grove, he was chairman of Deacon Ministry. He eventually was called into the ministry, was licensed and ordained in Georgia and studied at Carver Bible College in Atlanta. He relocated to Youngstown and served under the educational leadership of the Rev. Dr. Johnny R. Heckard, under whom he also became licensed and ordained in Ohio.

He is a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, where the Rev. Jack Petti is pastor. He is married to the former Gail Faison of Hubbard.
