Thieves hit Pa. preserve for disabled veterans

Friday, November 27, 2009

GUYS MILLS, Pa. (AP) — State police have been searching for thieves who targeted a hunting preserve that caters to disabled veterans in northwestern Pennsylvania.

Police say someone stole small heaters from hunting blinds at the WCJ Ranch in Richmond Township, Crawford County. The ranch is just east of Meadville, about 85 miles north of Pittsburgh.

The ranch has been operating for 17 years and this is the first time police say a theft has been reported there.

Police say the thefts are especially ill timed, coming a few days before Pennsylvania’s rifle season for deer opens on Monday.
