Titans pull out win in Houston

HOUSTON (AP) — Rob Bironas kicked a 53-yard field goal with less than a minute remaining and the Tennessee Titans beat the Houston Texans 20-17 for their fourth straight victory after an 0-6 start.

The Texans (5-5) had a chance to tie it, but Kris Brown’s 49-yard attempt with 1 second remaining was wide left. It was his second miss of the game and the second straight game he’s missed a chance to send the Texans to overtime.

The Titans (4-6) haven’t lost since Vince Young took over at quarterback. He is 2-0 as a starter in his hometown of Houston after running for the winning touchdown in overtime in his last start as a rookie in 2006.

Matt Schaub threw touchdown passes to Steve Slaton and Andre Johnson as the Texans and Titans were tied, 17-17, after three quarters.

Bironas kicked a 50-yard field goal with 2:49 left in the third to give the Titans a 17-14 lead.

On Houston’s next series, Schaub split double coverage on a 49-yard pass to Andre Johnson to the Titans’ 8. Brown tied it with a 26-yard field goal on the last play of the quarter.

Young threw a touchdown pass to Kenny Britt and LenDale White had a TD run in the second quarter for the Titans.

Chris Johnson had 20 carries for 100 yards in the first three quarters.

Schaub was 20 for 29 for 236 yards through three quarters.
