Special to The Vindicator INFORMATIVE VISIT: Ohio State Sen. Joseph Schiavoni had an opportunity to check how home-care services are meeting the health needs of individuals and saving taxpayers as he visited with 86-year-old Fannie Tubuner on Nov. 16 at her home in Youngstown. She explained she has arthritis, diabetes and a heart condition and receives assistance through the PASSPORT program five days a week. Helping her and providing companionship are, seated at right, Monissa Redmond, home health aide, and standing, Darla Renner, director of nursing, both with Cambridge Home Health Care. The average cost of in-home care is $12,600 a year, and it would be more than $55,000 in a nursing home.
