Crestview student wins Pre-teen of Ohio title

LEETONIA — Hannah Hephner, a daughter of Tim and Debbie Hephner of Leetonia and a third-grader at Crestview Elementary School, won the title of 2009 Pre-Teen Ohio in the junior division during a competition on Nov. 8 at the Hyatt on Capital Square in Columbus.

In addition to winning the title, Hannah won the junior division speech competition with her talk on “What the Word Achievement Means to Me.”

She was first runner-up in the junior division talent contest, where she did sign language to the song “On My Knees,” won the overall academic award and the spirit award.

She received $1,100 in college scholarships and will attend other state Pre-Teen competitions and represent Ohio at the national competition in July at Baton Rouge, La.
