YOUNGSTOWN — Police are investigating a South Side shooting that sent one woman to the hospital and has police looking for her live-in male companion.

Officers were sent to 175 E. Ravenwood Ave. just after 11 a.m. Monday for a shooting. The victim was a 29-year-old woman who lived at the address. She was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center for treatment. There was no information available Tuesday on her condition.

When officers arrived at the Ravenwood address, a group of people standing outside the house began yelling that a man living at the house had shot his girlfriend and was hiding inside the house. Officers learned that the man had jumped out of a rear window and escaped through backyards adjacent to the home.

A relative of the shooting victim’s told police the victim and suspected shooter began arguing in the living room of the house after the woman told the man he had to move out. The argument turned physical, and the man pulled out “a few guns,” ultimately shooting the woman.

Police found a revolver and a sawed-off shotgun inside the house.
